Hi, since i broke my fpc 199 ribbon today by breaking a few of the fragile pins i can't power up the laptop anymore! I try connect the cable anyway with the missing pings but no signs of power up. I'm hoping this was the result of just the cable which i would have to replace. I want to make sure that there might have been something else as i was moving things around to clean out the dust.
Now let's say you ripped your keyboard apart and you had data you need to access on your SSD's. How would you guy about turning on the PC without the keyboard (where the power switch is located). Surely theres another switch on the actual laptop itself. All i'm assuming is that the power switch uses the ribbon cable to turn on the pc? But from that connector where does it send the signal to turn on the laptop?
Kind Thanks in advance, i feel so empty already without access to this great laptop.

This is a really good question. There must indeed be one pin of the ribbon cable that needs to be pulled to GND to trigger the power-on button press. Since currenty I have no time to check out the connector pinout, I'd suggest you take your keyboard assembly, disassemble it and follow the button signals to the ribbon cable with a continuity checker. Once you found thie right pin(s) on the conector, follow it at the mainboard side until you have some kind of pad or resistor/capacitor where you can put your wire or the needle of your testing tool to short it. Use the current setting to make your checker tool low.

Wake-On-LAN?

Good idea, worth a try - dunno if WOL is activated in the Z1 BIOS by default though.

Just crank-start it.

pyr0 I appreciate your reply, i wish i was technically minded to go through that but i'll see who owns a continuity checker and ask if they can help out. I tried dissassembling the keyboard but am hesitant since this is how i got into this trouble in the first place.
Also how might i do Wake On Lan if i can't turn on the computer in the first place????
I want to hear from those people who also stuffed up their keyboard ribbon cable and confirm whether they couldn't power their laptop? I'm just hoping it's the cable and not something else that i might have broke

I am facing the same problem with mine? Did you resolve this problem? If so, was it just the cable? Please let me know!
