Hi all, I have been trying to contact Sony to arrange for repair of my VGN-FZ21e laptop but I am having huge problems trying to actually speak to a human!!!
The problem is that any number you phone for Sony requires you to input the serial number. Unfortunately Sony in all there wisdom decided to put this 'sticker' on the bottom of the laptop where it rubs off, hence I cannot read it!
I also cannot get it from the BIOS because i have the dreaded black screen due to the GPU failure.
I have tried to contact them through their service response enquiry but to no avail.
PLEASE can anyone advise me how I can retrieve my serial number or how I can contact someone at Sony that I can actually talk to!

    Best regards

    Mark

I phoned Sony support (UK, although it sounded like it went through to India) a few weeks ago when I didn't have a serial number to hand, and just ended up mashing buttons more or less at random until I got through to a real person, who was then able to help me - and did a very good job of it as well.

I apologise that this may seem a particularly non-technical approach, but it definitely worked for me.

Additionally, the Sony online support thing allows you to select by the model number that will be beneath the screen instead of by the specific serial number, although it sounds like this won't be much help as you actually need to speak to a person. Do you have the box it came in? It should be on there somewhere as well.

Many thanks for your reply. I managed to get through using the serial no. from another Sony Viao that I have and then explained the situation. The guy was very helpful although I wasn't very impressed at the charge rate on the call, 35p/min and it was quite a long call and I'm sure it won't be the last!!
