    Hi

Could someone help me install Express Card Memory Card Reader (VGP-MCA20)?

Everytime it tries to install it fails to find the necessary drivers. I couldn't see that on Sony support site either, except the registry patch for VGP-MCA10 which I already installed.

    Thank you

Mine worked out of the box, except that I'm having issues with some cards in it. Been trying to find updated drivers (or even drivers) for it with no luck.

Can you select to allow Windows to search the internet for your driver?

OK. I found the driver of the adaptor. It is USBSTOR.sys. I managed to locate it in Windows\I386 directory along with the inf file. It is now recognized as Sony USB HS-Card. I even reads MMC card. However freezes with sd card.

And still looking for some other driver and software.

So, could someone who properly installed this adaptor kindly tell me what driver it uses? This could be found out by clicking My Computer and right click on Removable Disk (F) for Properties then click on Hardware tab, right click on Sony USB HS-Card then Properties below and finally drivers.

    Thank you in advance.

    Mine is disk.sys, partmgr.sys and shpf.sys (all in windows\system32\drivers)

    The first 2 are certified.

ALSO HAD FREEZE UP PROBLEMS WITH THE MCA-20 adaptor in my VGN-SZ34GP and googled my way into this forum where i read somebody solved it by 'holding the adaptor in'. well for sure none of the software alternatives were working so i tried it. IT WORKS! honest. push the adaptor (with the SD card in place) all the way in and DON'T LET IT CLICK BACK! of course that means you are now working one-handed <stupid grin> but it leads me to believe it's NOT a driver issue at all but simply a badly engineered piece of *?!^. the memory stick works fine (click in; click out) in it (of course it's a sony baby) but the SD - probably regardless of the amount of memory used - won't read at all and for sure will freeze when you ask explorer to list out the files! i tried jamming a paperclip in the end to hold the SD card in but nothing thus far works. go figure...maybe there's an improved model out there...i'm going to japan in a couple of months and i'll take the old one and see what they've got.

I have been looking around the net to figure out what the heck is wrong with my sister's brand new Sony laptop. Finally the right answer.

    Thanks a million times Stook.

By the way, shouldn't Sony replace this part if it is defected? My PC is brand new so it should be under warranty. Has anyone tried this and fixed the problem?
