    Hey Guys. Well i have a Sony Vaio VGN - CS16GQ ( http://www.sony.co.nz/vaio/product.jsp?sku=VGNCS16Gq)

This of course isnt listed in the Kingston website as its either too new or an Asia Pacific specific model. In any case i believe its like the CS118 model in the US which uses ddr2 800 memory.

Im just wondering what some suitable memory would be i have 2gb installed as default and want to go to 4gb.

    Kingston lists this M25664G60

    http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator_new/partsinfo.asp?root=&LinkBack=&ktcpartno=M25664G60

as a suitable version for all the CS series they know about, i was wondering what an equivalent Kingston Value ram module would be? The Kingston site doesnt tell me much about the M25664G60, like the CL version or the Voltage or anything.. Im a bit of a novice when it comes to ram and Sony NZ were nice enough to just say go look at kingston.com awesome thanks sony..

Can anyone tell me what chips would be suitable, once i have a model number i can try and source them locally.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks

Do you currently have 1*2GB or 2*1GB ?

You can use DDR2-800 PC2-6400 CL 5/6 1.8V SODIMM RAM....

OCZ, G.Skill, Corsair, Patriot, Crucial, etc also manufacture good modules.

For 4GB to be fully addressed, you'll need a 64-bit OS.

    CL: Cas Latency

Generally, lower = faster. But you won't notice any performance difference. And its better that the new module's CL is same as the installed module's CL. (Check using CPU-Z)
