    Hi all,

We just got a Sony VAIO VGN-AR170 and upgraded the memory from 512 to 2GB. This is the memory we got:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145012

Everything boots up and runs fine with 2 sticks in, but when I look at the Control Panel ---> System. It says "997 mhz, 2GB RAM".

Is it reading the RAM correctly? I was a little thrown off when I saw the 997.

    Thanks in advance!
    CJ

i think it refers to the current speed of your Core Duo CPU.. it's running at a lower clock speed since it's more idle and this will save power
