Just did a clean install of Windows Vista Ultimate x86 on my Sony VAIO C260E. I'm curious if anyone knows where to get drivers for the Mass Storage Controller and also the ACPI driver (shows as Unknown Device). These are typically the two that never get installed (from my experience), but are easy to find drivers for on the desktop (usually just a part of the chipset drivers). I checked Intel's website for the 945 chipset and already installed their chipset inf thing, but that's not really a driver.

Anyways, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ah the Mass Storage Controller is for the Texas Instruments® PCI7411 Integrated FlashMedia Controller, which doesn't have x64 drivers out yet. Not too worried since I don't even use that flash media reader.

    But the ACPI driver...

For the ACPI you should look at Sony, since making ACPI drivers is such a pain, nobody but the manufacturer bothers to make them.So If any drivers are to come,it'll be from Sony.

Yeah, Sony doesn't have anything. My guess is x64 drivers for notebooks just won't be supported quite yet. I thought Microsoft's whole driver deal was that manufacturers had to release both a 32 and 64 bit version.

Anyways, was a nice little test. Restoring the computer back to the factory state with the recovery discs. I can't stand all the bloatware that comes with it though. Vista Ultimate clean was about 36 processes at boot-up. With Sony's crap it's about 56-60 after uninstalling everything that appeared to be garbage. ;)

Might just install Vista Ultimate 32-bit version clean... just not sure if I can get those hotkeys (volume, brightness, etc.) to work. Any ideas as to which driver/software to download to get the hotkeys working?
