Hey guys, I just got this 2-3 yr old Sony Vaio for free. The reason I got this for free is because the monitor is cracked pretty badly all across the screen. I am wondering if there is any way to replace the monitor on my own for fairly cheap.

The person who gave this laptop to me had the screen cracking issue just 2 months after buying it, unfortunately the warranty was only for one month. Therefore to send it in and get it repaired would have costed around $400 - $500. I am wondering if there is any way for me to purchase a vaio monitor for a fairly cheap price, and installing it on the computer itself.

The model of this computer is: PCG-6D1L. I know I can always hook it up to a regular monitor to resolve this, but that is not a good enough solution because then it would not be portable. Thanks in advance for all seuggestions and input!

You could look for a used screen on eBay if you have the skills to replace it. Generally replacing a laptop screen is an expensive proposition.

And if not the ebay method, Just hook up the old sony to an older moniter you have around and use the external output, but save your money towards a new laptop instead of repairing this one.

So looking to replace the monitor is very inefficient and not worth it I take it?
