FIRSTLY: Lots of threads in this section 'touch' on this subject, but many are old or deal with out-dated configurations of the FZ. Sorry if this is a redundant question.

I'm inches away from ordering the FZ-4000 CTO from Sonystyle.com (thank you to everyone who has posted on my "What Notebook Should I Buy" threads). It will be one of two notebooks I buy before this coming July. The other will be a more powerful gaming notebook perhaps on the Montevina platform.

Since I know I'm picking up something kick-@$$ for this summer, I'm tempted to get something a little cheaper for my personal business use. I don't want to sacrfice style, portability, or viewability (display quality) though. I trade currencies and need to view and show a lot of charts and graphs. My only other consideration besides the FZ is the Toshiba A305 for $749 @ Bestbuy. I've heard it now has the TruBrite screen from the Qosmio. Are these comparable to the HiColor screens in way of depth/contrast?? The unit basically looks like this but in 15.4" form...

On a side note...I've picked up TES4: Oblivion again and wonder if the FZ will handle it any better than my old Radeon 256MB 9600 Pro desktop with 1GB RAM? Anyone run Oblivion on an FZ? If it can't handle it very well that further leans me to the Toshiba so I can put more into my system this summer.

If your FZ model has the 8400GT your laptops graphics capabilities will be far superior to your old 9600 Pro card.

Most laptop manufacturers have some fancy name for a slightly better screen for example Dell has truelife. As far as I can tell they all mean the same thing, a more quality screen. Don't read to much into from different manufacturers, as long as your laptop has that particular manufacturers fancy screen name thing your fine.

Thanks for the reply! I figure the Sony screens probably a little more vivid. I'm looking for any excuse I can to just get it so I think I will finally.

    Replied to your PM.
If you are at all interested in design, build, and style then the FZ is on top of that Toshiba. Looks chunky, what's the weight? I guess I just like sharp edges. No curved edges for me thanks.

Most of the FZ series comes with an 8400m GT, but the A305 comes with either a Radeon HD3470 or a 3650. Not sure which gpu is better, but congrats on your FZ purchase. :]
