Hi, My Vaio SZ61MN has stop detecting the battery. So before I purchase another battery I would be grateful if anyone knows the voltages at the pins on the motherboard. I have used a multimeter and the 5 smaller pins read 3.7volts but there is no voltage from the two larger pins at either end.

It appears that battery faults are quite common on this model but I am unsure if the motherboards also suffer from an internal fault.

Battery light flicks on for about 0.5 secs on startup but thats it. Oh, charger seems to get quite hot.

    Thanks in advance

Battery charger circuit in your laptop needs to see the battery before it can open charge current to battery.
Otherwise, it closes charge current. That's why you don't see it when you were trying to read at 2 outer pins.

You have saved me a lot of time dismantling my laptop.
I'll try the new battery first.

    Thanks for replying.
