I broke the ribbon that connects the palmrest/keyboard to the motherboard a few weeks ago and just got it in the mail. After connecting it, I somehow broke the plastic connector where the ribbon goes into the keyboard part. So I guess now I have to order that "green chip" where the ribbon goes into the keyboard/palmrest. However, I'm having trouble finding the part number for it. Does anyone know what it is? Better yet, anyone know where I can just buy an entirely new palmrest/keyboard assembly (been wanting to replace those ugly, faded palmrests, so this might be the excuse to do so). Thank you!

Could you post a photo of the part and where it connects?

Hey Surfer, sorry to hear, but the palmrest is a different part and quite simple to remove (just a few screws and pop it off). Not sure about the keyboard though...

It looks like I need to remove the palmrest to access the chip I need to replace. I already removed four screws, but it won't come off - the sides look like they are completely detached, but around the mouse pad area, it is still attached in some way.

    EDIT: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/478061-how-protective-film-application-z11.html
Looks like Zoinks has removed the palmrest and posted videos on how to do it, but now they're set to private! Grr! :p

EDIT 2: There are these two white plastic tabs that I think are preventing me from removing the palmrest. I can't figure out how to undo them though - I'm afraid I'll break them.

EDIT 3: I got the tabs undone! Yay!
