I have a new SZ650. My port replicator arrived today and is mostly working ok. Dell 24" LCD on the DVI port looks great. I am able to get the Dell 24" working as the primary display and the internal 13.3" LCD of the SZ650 as the second display, but I cannot get my 22" external Gateway LCD to work as the secondary display off the VGA port. The Nvidia driver recognizes it's there, and will even let me set it as the primary display, but it won't run the DVI and VGA port simultaneously.

I've read other posts (on other boards) that basically say it just isn't possible, but (a) does anyone know why and (b) is this truly undoable?

I'm doing fine with the 24" + internal LCD, but having the 24" + 22" would be gold (the 22" is a spare from an old desktop that I'm just running with Remote Desktop now).

    I'm a +1 on this issue.

I'd really like to be able to run dual displays from the SZ port replicator.

I think you can get either:

    a) a USB monitor (rare) or
    b) an additional USB port replicator with vga or dvi out (I think toshiba make one??)

But I hope someone else knows how to get both outputs of the SZ port replicator to work in unison... (anyone??) I'm a big dual montor fan and I have an SZ on order.

I saw somewhere in this forum saying you cannot have dual external monitor connected.

Have you guys tried to play movies on your external screen using windows media player? is it working fine? the problem i have is when i maximize it, it just failed, it says video card has a problem. This happens on NVIDIA card not on Intel.

I have the same problem with the movies failing when I maximize...on either the external or internal screen.

If you use Media Player Classic, it works fine. So...it's likely some weirdness between the video card driver and WMP 11 (although I've tried a few different Nvidia drivers with no success). It doesn't like a problem related to the codec pack.

I have a USB dock with a VGA out, but it only supports up to 1280 x 1024. Anyhow I'll try it. Then I'll look for a USB to VGA (or DVI) "dongle" that supports higher res.

I think what you want to do is impossible. The docking port and the built in are the same port.

Your best bet is to call Sony support and persist until you can reach a Level 2 Support tech. They will know, or know who to ask.
