    Sony hit my credit card so it is going today per original 7/30 estimate. Yippee!!

    Correction: no it ain't. Boo hoo.

    original ship date was supposed to be 7/28 which was monday. so i don't know what's up with them. i'm hopinh it at least starts shipping this week. If it sends out tomorrow, i prob can get it by monday.

    Well, my FW was ordered on the 22nd I think, but got the email confirmation of the order on the 23. Hopefully it will be coming along soon. It seems to me IMO that those who indicate some loyalty (or something) by ordering through their site, that it would take priority over even the pre-configed jobs sent out to retail stores. But I don't think that's how it all works. :)

    My credit card also got charged today but I haven't received a shipping confirmation. I ordered the FW on the 21st. An online customer service rep told me this morning it should ship today.

    Update: My FW didn't ship and won't ship until probably Monday. I was misinformed by newbie Sony CSR yesterday. A more experienced CSR got real status for my order this morning. The work order to build it was just opened yesterday, ergo. my card was charged. Since it will take 24-48 hrs to build it (plus some because it's new), Monday is a safe bet. I just hope FedEx Ground puts it on a plane instead of a train. :cool:

    I just contacted online support to see if my FW shipped yesterday like they said it would and this was their reply:

    "Thank you for your patience. This order was scheduled to ship yesterday, but was not processed for shipment before Fed Ex picked up their shipment yesterday. This item should ship today."

    I live about an hour from the San Diego factory so if they do ship it there is a chance I could receive it before the weekend.

    Yup, looks like the estimate I got today was correct. Shipping tomorrow at the earliest but most likely Monday. And YankeeGirl who ordered last week got the correct info from her sales guy...assembly starts on July 30, shipments on August 4. :(

    I think Newegg's SR doesnt have an Intel wifi card, they have some other bran Ath..something but the sonystyle ones and all the ones shipping next week will have the Intel wifi card.

    but...atheros is a good company from what I heard. so it's not like they got gyped or anything..

    no. i placed my order on 28th and just received an email this morning saying the production had begun. But the email also says the estimated shipping date is Aug 1st. How weird is that ?

    I got the in-production email on Friday around noon....my order was placed on the 19th so you're doing pretty good there. I'm hoping mine will ship by tomorrow. I'll keep y'all posted.

    so it took sony a week to process my order and then began to build my computer. Wow, that's slow. Much slower compared to HP's processing time. I wonder what the heck they were doing in last week. Took an entire week to process my order ....

    The word on the street is that they started assembling new line on 7/30 with first shipments to occur today. According to other sources, today is the earliest they could officially ship full spec Centrino 2 systems (maybe FCC certification starts today for the new Intel 5100 wireless card?).

    Anyway, you're not doing too bad considering there were about 2 weeks of orders in front of you. :)

    Unlike you guys, I never received an e-mail saying my FW was being built. However, when I login to sonystyle it reads, "Your VAIO is being built."

    Sigh. I did receive my useless "Back-To-School" accessories in the mail a few days ago.
