In the area around the S key up to the 2 key. I was just wondering if this is in the design or if something is weird with my comp.
Thanks Guys!

Mine is dead flat.

damn, thanks gary....
exchange time. -
Mine's flat but there is a noticeable raise between the F2 and F3 keys.
-
the raise between the F2 and F3 is one of the most prominent on mine...
-
I know that there are other notebooks with the same problem so I don't think it's that big of a deal. I think the chassis just sometimes is oddly shaped to accommodate a piece of hardware. I remember a certain Asus and Toshiba notebook with the same thing.
-
just got mine too.. same thing, minor raise... i didnt notice until you said something. no big deal, i can't tell.
-
i too, have a slight raise between F2 and F3.
-
i just hope it doesnt mess up the great screen... i will be pissed off if i see f2 and f3 pressed into my screen.

Since it seems that a few have mentioned they just got their new FZ laptops, I would like to ask this question here.
Right out of the box, is the battery charged or does it require charging? If it does require charging, how much time is needed? Is the laptop still functional if battery is in place, plugged into outlet, and being used to set up accounts, etc? -
When I got mine, the battery had 90 something percent in it, so I just went ahead and plugged it in and started using it to make the Recovery DVDs.
If its plugged in, it shouldn't take power away from the battery. (you can take the battery out and use the computer plugged in) It should charge the battery and also power the computer at the sametime. -

Its used to restore the computer back to factory state. So basically it deletes everything on the computer and puts back everything that was on it when you first received the computer.

I dont quite understand. I will be buying my first laptop on Wednesday so I have no idea to how the process is. I thought when you first boot the laptop right out of the box, you first first set up your account and other information on Vista, then it logs in. Is this not the factory state? Or is the factory state without all the bloatware?
I am sorry if I sound like a complete novice. I just have never heard of this process of making recovery DVD's right when you take your laptop out of the box. -
Right out of the box, everything is installed and the bloatware is there.
The recovery DVDs are simply needed in case you somehow screw up Vista or something like that and you want to get the computer back to like it was when you first got it. So the computer works just fine when you first get it, but lets say 6 months down the road, I get a virus that totally infects the whole thing, then I would probably use the recovery DVDs to restore the computer back to the factory state (just like when you first got it). Its a backup image of the computer thats like when you first got it. -
-
It requires 2 DVDs.
