So I had my laptop plugged in without a battery in while I was asleep.
I always keep my laptop on for msn messages, ICQ, AIM, etc.

I wake up, grab my laptop and its REALLY hot, like to the point that I can't even keep my hand on the bottom of the laptop.

Anyways, so I start surfing a little bit, check my messages, and then all of a sudden, my screen goes SO dark that you can barely see anything (but if you try hard enough you can see everything). So the screen still works but its barely visible at all.

I tried restarting the computer, shutting it down, inserting the battery and taking out the wall plug, only using the wall plug, using both the battery and the wall plug, but nothing seems to help. Also when I use the FN + Brightness buttons, I see the level increasing, but the brightness actually stays the exact same.

Any way to fix this? Or should I take it straight to the sony store as my laptop is still under a year old?

    thanks guys

    Robert

Call Sony first, then go to Sony Store. LCD's are very difficult and very expensive to fix. MAKE SURE IF YOU TURN YOUR COMPUTER IN THAT YOU BACK UP YOUR DATA. 9 times out of 10, if you turn a Sony in for LCD work, they simply replace the computer.

Doesn't sound like the LCD but that your backlight went out.

AFAIK your LCD backlight is damaged.Nothing risky here.Just plug-in your laptop to an external monitor.Backup all your data and send in your laptop for repair.

Yep, that makes sense to me

now the problem is, I probably won't have a laptop for 3 weeks until they fix it...

Do you think if I ask them for a temporary one they will be able to provide one for me?
