I have a Sony Vaio VGN-TXN25N and I have purchased an upgrade of RAM from Crucial. Try as I may it will not recognize the additional memory. I know it is seated correctly because when I remove it and put in the old memory, it is fine....any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have spoken with Sony and they have been of no help whatsoever.

2 things to try. Try your new module in a friends' pc and see if their pc recognizes it. Try a different module in your pc to see if it sees it.
It sounds like the memory may not be compatible.
Also, the TX is a bit weird with memory. If I recall, when I added a 2gb module to mine, the original memory on the motherboard was no longer used or recognized. -
To be honest, I do not know anyone with a laptop to try the memory on. So that lets that out.
I have called Sony and Crucial and both state the module is compatible. When I switch out the new for the old, it is fine but it will not recognize the new.
It states that is comes with 1 gb but can be upgraded to 1.5. -
then the memory module is most likely defective. send it back for an exchange.
