Guys !! I hate to post this thread !! Believe me I am such a huge fan of SONY products ,as I believe they are extremely high quality products.
But today I was wrong !! I bought SONY VAIO VPCF115 Model Laptop from Best Buy in Austin,TX in Feb 2010.
Up till now everything was working perfectly fine , until today morning when I powered ON my laptop nothing would come up !! NO DISPLAY !! I tried taking out the battery and putting back again , tried removing RAM and all possible options tried !!! the laptop is powering ON but its not displaying anything !! nor the Hard drive is being read.
I am currently in India on vacation and having this problem.I don't know whether this is covered with SONY VAIO warranty , b'caz I didn't buy the accidental warranty from Best Buy.
I gave my laptop at SONY SERVICE Center here in India and they told me the MOTHERBOARD IS faulty and its not functioning , hence they need to repair the motherboard !! I was like WHAT??? how can that be possible even in the first place.I don't believe this , I'm not sure whether you guys having the same problem with this Model ? please share your experiences and please any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks for reading

What is your problem, you have warranty to cover this.
Shhh happens and not everything is perfect. Sounds like something is defective. -
Things break. It's a bummer, but they do. That's what warranties are for

EDIT - Deleted. Me = smart

I used to swear by Sony Vaio's quality until I got Sony Vaio VGN NR 180 E from Best Buy in Roanoke, Virginia, USA. I thought I got a good deal for $ 328 and headed back home. Since the time I got it back to India- within 3 months of overall usage from the date of purchase, the Laptop was dead. Best buy offers absolutely no support, no international warranty applicable in India, Sony Motherboards are costlier than the Laptop itself! Completely worthless buy!!
International Laptop manufacturers like Sony who are well established even in India should honour the laptop within warranty period purchased across the world.
Sony & Best buy- Never again!! -
I would not buy any computer from Best Buy. Every time I go in there to play with notebooks it sounds like a bunch of bad car sales men conning buyers into getting worthless warrenties using scare tactics.
-
I also bought a VAIO VPCF115FM from best buy in the US. I have moved to Pune, India after that, the laptop started having issues with overheating very soon after 2 months or so. Unfortunately I am in India and donot have an international warranty. The laptop shuts down if I try running a video for about 10 minutes or so. The laptop gets really hot after 5 minutes. I think SONY has sent a batch of bad laptops to Bestbuy. Does anyone else have a similar overheating problem.
Please help.

What is with this trend of people buying Sony laptops from Best Buy and then moving to India? I must be missing something.
-
^Great observation...In that case I'm never buying a laptop at BestBuy, I don't want to accidentally move to India.

Without proper heat dissipation the CPU will overheat and the laptop will involuntarily power down. -
-
Don't know much about it other than that it's the stuff that wicks the heat directly from the CPU.
My VAIO VPCF115FM is Dead in 3months FLAT !!!!
