Hello guys!Greetings from Bulgaria!!
I really need your help.Right.Got 7 years old laptop VAIO VGN-AR61M,which came with original VISTA
Home Premium. The original battery has gone on the 5th year somewehere there and I bought a very good
similar copy from China ofc.difference in prices was double/treble. OK.The battery came with a CD,
with software, which was easy to install. It flashed my BIOS and than the battery was accepted from the laptop.
Now,these days,I get enaugh from this Vista and upgrade to Win 7 Ultimate.Ofc not an original one,but very
good copy.Got all drivers installed and updated, nothing in yellow in the Device Manager (rofl) I have to confess,
laptops run much better than on Vista,but....always there is at least one but....
the battery not accepted, tried to install the same software, which came with it (its compatible with XP/Vista/7)
but no success. Now on the same laptop, same battery, just not Vista, but Win 7 Ultimate and when I drag the power cable it dies. Please guys, help me with it.The software says it cannot flash the bios now.How it done it before? Its the same bios??OK,enaugh from me.Waiting for your posts. Thanks!

Will anybody try to help me with it?

I have a different model, so take everything I say with caution.
1. BIOS update can only happen if the BIOS being flashed is different from the BIOS that is already there. If it is the same, as in your case, then the update software will exit.
2. I suppose you have tried the usual stuff
- shut down, remove adapter and battery, press power switch for several seconds, then leave like that for an hour.
- uninstall VAIO control center and batter checker and reinstall them. You might have to do these in compatibility mode, perhaps also with administrative rights. If this doesn't work, try disabling UAC and do it again; when you're done, you can turn UAC back on. -
1.Yes,unfortunately the software exit
2.I did shut down, remove adapter and battery, press power switch for 60 seconds, but than I just put the battery back and try the software.Havent left laptop fir an hour, will try it as you say!
After upgrading to Win 7 from Vista,on the laptop there wasnt VAIO control center.Ive just thought about this battery checker,to remove it permanently??And what the UAC (user account control) can help me here, yes it is turned on.I will
try all you say,Im desperate
Thanks for your time and answer me!

1. No, that is by design. If you tell the BIOS flashing utility to replace the existing BIOS with the same BIOS, it will think you are stupid. You can try flashing back to the Sony supplied BIOS that you can download from the support page of your model, but that won't do your battery problem much good.
2. You need to find a way to get the VAIO Control center running. I have attached a picture which shows what I have to do for my laptop, installing Windows 7 files on Windows 8/8.1. You will need to do something similar for your system. These are numbered according to the order in which I have to install them. This is important - get the order wrong and some things won't work.
I also have to install these in compatibility mode: Windows 7: *, as admin: #:

What part of 'I have a different model' did you not understand? The files intended for my model will totally mess up your system.
Go to the Sony support website. Find the support page for your model. Download the latest files from there. If there are Windows 7 files there, fine. Otherwise download the Vista files and continue from there. Note: if the drivers are for Vista 32bit, they are not likely to work with Windows 7 64bit. Try installing Windows 7 32bit instead.
Look on this forum for a Windows 7 clean install guide for your model, or at least models in the same series. -
Sorry mate.It was stupid from my side.I will try all you said, just cant install/start the VAIO Control Center...
-
At least found a VAIO Control Center for my model.Installed and run.Now what?Same s**t,just a different day....
Still my battery not recognized and still software for it not gives me File Mode and the Patch Mode just shut down my pc

Can you try doing a full system restore and going back to Vista for testing? You want the original Sony drivers installed in the correct order.
Once you get things working with the original Vista that your laptop came with, then we can try with Windows 7. -
No,unfortunately I formatted the hard drives and the part of the original VISTA was completely removed
Now,I have to download VISTA from microsoft using my label on the bottom, but I see no point of all this.
The battery compatibility is for XP/VISTA and the 7,so....really see no point ?? -
Drat! The whole point of the system recovery was to eliminate the possibility that you are not installing the Sony drivers correctly.
As I have told you before, the Sony drivers have to be downloaded from the Sony support site for your model. These are only available for Windows Vista, so you need to download those and install them on Windows Vista, or on Windows 7 in compatibility mode for Windows Vista which might or might not work.
Have you searched for a clean install guide for your model? That tells you in explicit detail how to install Windows 7 on your model and get everything working. If you get the order wrong, the drivers won't install properly. -
Take a look at these threads: http://forum.notebookreview.com/search/1526454/?q=clean+install+vgn+windows+7&o=relevance&c[node]=8
Some of them will be for other models but you might find one that is close to yours.
