Hello. I recently purchased a Sony Vaio TZ150N/B at Best Buy, and I would like to show it off.I would also like to show off my Pelican 1080 Hard Case. All of the photos were taken with a Sony Cybershot DSC-T100.
First of all, my Vaio TZ150.![]()

Since there are not many photos of these on the forum, let's start off with the Pelican 1080 Hard Case.

As you can see, there is a first generation iPod Nano next to the case for relative size comparisons. You will frequently see this iPod Nano in the later pictures next to the Vaio TZ, too.
The case looks very simple, but extremely sturdy. The black part of the case is made from a very solid material. The silver parts are made of metal. Overall, the case looks quite nice for what it's for - which is ultimate protection.
Now, let's explore the insides of the case, shall we?

The case uses Pick 'N Pluck foam, which means the foam is pre-perforated into a grid. This makes it very easy to remove the foam and create the perfectly-sized indentation for your laptop. I didn't even have to use a knife or anything. I simply poked my finger between the cubes and cut the shape that I wanted.

This is the foam section that I removed and discarded:

Here is the desired foam section, placed back into the case:

The lid of the case is lined with another layer of foam. However, this layer of foam is different, as you can see:

The "hills" of the lid layer of foam protrudes quite far out. This is what the case looks like, with the Vaio TZ inside, before pressing down and closing it completely:

The case refuses to close! The lid is actually raised about two inches high. That means you must manually force the lid to close, two inches down. Some people may feel uncomfortable putting that much pressure onto the Vaio TZ. So, I simply took a pair of scissors and cut off the "hills" of the lid foam. Perfect! It closes perfectly now, with no need for extra force.

The Vaio TZ is raised about half an inch on the back, due to the battery (this is a BPL11 battery).

Here is the black microfiber cleaning cloth that is included with the Vaio TZ:

Some people like to place the cloth between the keyboard and screen for extra protection. However, I prefer placing the cloth a little bit lower to cover the fingerprint sensor. When the Vaio TZ is closed, the Motion Eye camera sits flat on the fingerprint sensor. If extra pressure was somehow applied to that area, both the camera and fingerprint sensor may be scratched and even damaged over a prolonged period of time. So, I'd rather put the cloth between the camera and fingerprint sensor, and risk having a little bit of the keyboard exposed.

Well there you have it. My Sony Vaio TZ150N/B and Pelican 1080 Hard Case.![]()
Notes:
1) The silver/white laptop in the background is a Sony Vaio VGN-N250E.
2) I bought the Pelican case here: http://www.pelican.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1080. It's perfect for me, as I am a university student. Putting this beautiful machine into my book bag, along with my gigantic textbooks is not very safe, and that's why this Pelican case is just right for me.
3) The color of the Vaio TZ150N/B is black. The graininess in the pictures are due to me taking pictures in a low-light setting without making the proper adjustments on my camera. The TZ is pure, solid black in reality.

That's the sexiness of the TZ right thar. Enjoy the honeymoon period!
Hmm, I had a slightly similar situation as you. I also bought my TZ150N/B from Best Buy and I own a Sony Cybershot camera. Your date of manufacture (located on the bottom of the TZ) wouldn't happen to be July 2007 as well? Grats on the purchase at any rate. I'm sure you are totally loving your new computer. -

Very nice!

Great pics and as always the TZ is so beatiful!
Two questions:
Is it really the large capacity battery this that you show and the standard? I thought it was much bigger.
The colour is the premium or the black?
Thanks. -
Wow a new TZ looks amazing. I advice you to use a mouse because the touchpad becames very worn.
Seems the standard battery also to me.
It must very protective this Pellican case, but in my opinion is way too big to carry around. Is against the major point of the TZ, portability. But I repeat protection must be great. -
Sorry, I got confused with Sony's naming schemes. The battery that I have is a BPL11. The bigger one is the BPX11, and the smaller one is BPS11. I thought the 'L' stood for Large.
Thank you for the correction.
The color of my Vaio TZ 150N/B is simply black.
The dimensions of the Pelican case are 13.75" x 10.95" x 2.55". I am a university student, so the laptop goes into my book bag and the size doesn't matter then. I carry gigantic, thousand-page Chemistry books around in my book bag, which is not a very safe place for a Vaio TZ. That's why this Pelican case is perfect for my needs. I am constantly on the move, and I cannot risk putting my Vaio TZ in a thin, beautiful leather case and have it pulverized into a mushy pulp by the end of the day.
Also, I travel a lot. I often go to tropical, temperate places in South East Asia, as well as a few third-world countries. The Pelican case is absolutely necessary for me. The case is waterproof, crushproof, and dust-proof, so I can travel with the Vaio TZ and have no worries. Not everyone needs ultimate protection, but in my circumstances, I do need it. The Pelican case delivers. -
In this case, you did a good choice purchasing the Pellican. Love the colour, Enjoy your TZ. -
Wow. That Pelican case is just an awesome protection for a great little laptop like the Vaio TZ. Congrats on both purchases.

Nice looking machine. Too bad my eyes can't handle the tiny text. I came close to buying a TX a while back, but I literally got a headache after using it in the store for a while. Tried another store, got another headache. I think it was a combination of a smaller screen with a larger resolution -- a double-whammy. Setting it from 96 to 120 dpi helped some, but that messed up other things (graphics, web page format, etc). Oh well.
Anyway, congrats on the purchase!
