LET'S KEEP THIS THREAD **SHORT** SINCE MOBILEHAVOC HAS THE ULTIMATE VISTA UPGRADE THREAD SO FAR.
Alright, I love my second install (very stable) and here are the steps. Three things I DID NOT INSTALL at this time: Camera, TPM/SmartWI (BIOS Disabled), UPEK Protector.
One thing that I borrowed from XP drivers but without rhyme or reason was the Notebook Control Device Driver and Notebook Control Utility. Not sure if it's psychological but I swear that fixed my slow boot time and HD Busy during startup.
Anyway, here are my steps.
Before Anything Intel Graphics Driver (Stamina Mode).exe
Before Anything NV Driver (Speed Mode).EXE
First Vaio Utils SOASNU-01298604-US.exe
Second Vaio Shared Lib SOASSL-A1298203-US.EXE
Third Vaio Event Service SOAVES-01302701-US.exe
Fourth ALPSPointer.EXE
Fifth Sigmatel AU STDAUD-01291504-US.exe
Sixth TI Flash TIDMSC-00967112-US.EXE
7a. HDD Protect SODOTH-01368000-UN.exe
7b. WinRAR and run setup.exe HD Protect SOAHDD-01280702-UN.exe
Eighth Utility VideoShared_3.1.00.10240.zip (Is this even a necessary file?)
Ninth Alps BlueTooth_5.00.10_logo.zip
Tenth Vaio PM SOAVPM-01298010-UN.exe
11a. XP Sony NB Control DD.exe
11b. XP Sony NB Control.EXE
Twelfth Vaio Command Ctr SOAVCC-01304902-UN.exe
Thirteenth Windows Mobile Device Ctr drvupdate-x86.EXE
P.S. Google Calendar Sync works with Vista and I would give anything to get rid of Blue LED for BT when "disabled". No matter what I do, even disabling the drivers in device manager, the BT LED stays on all the time. Any ideas?
Also, deleted the pesky ISBMGR.exe from startup.

you did a clean install huh? not an upgrade from XP?
-
If you follow my instructions you won't have this problem... -
how come mobile havoc has 19 steps and you have 17?
you didnt install the camera, smartwi and UPEK, but that brings the total to 20... -
I am more of a novice "fooling" around whereas MobileHavoc is an expert.
Although, I am impressed you counted the number of steps as well hehe.
Thanks for replies, I will go back and read your post MobileHavoc but is there a quick and dirty "turn BT OFF" since I seem to be stuck with that. Thanks again. -
You can use the wireless switching utility or install SmartWi. Both will individually allow you to turn the BT/WLAN either off or on independently. If you want to use WWAN you need to go with SmartWi but otherwise go with wireless switching utility. -
i dont think the order matters. i installed vista ultimate clean on my fe 690 and all the drivers at random order and everything works just fine. cheers!
My Vista Install Steps - Thanks MobileHavoc, and Others
