OK guys bear with me as I am not a regular Windows user. I'm one of the few that is making the "switch" but the other way around.

Anyways my computer has been having some serious sleep issues. Funny thing is that the sleep issues happen with random causes. There isn't any consistent thing I do that causes the sleep issue. And by "issue" I mean put the computer to sleep and sometime afterwards being asleep i have just a black screen with the fan on and a green powerlight on and i cannot wake the computer up.

I'd say I have a 60% chance of sleep failure. I've already given up trying to put the computer to sleep by closing the lid that is like an 80% sleep failure rate. I thought I was safe by hitting windows key>sleep because that was working for a while but then even then it would fail.

I really want to love this Z11 but I've had this issue ever since I got the computer around xmas but only now have i decided to come out of the woodwork and ask for help. When my computer is on and working it is a beast but jesus christ i cannot believe the downfall of my computer is its ability to sleep! why is it such a PITA!?!?! Now i have to switch back to mac if this isn't resolved!

There are several threads about this - ncluding how to prevent it from turning on in the bag.

    Tips:

    1. Go into the BIOS (press F2 while booting) and disable wake on LAN and network booting if available. Switch the Wifi adapter off when you sleep.

    2. In Power Options, click change plan settings> change advanced power settings for each plan in turn and under sleep> allow wake timers and set all to disabled.

Thanks for the reply. I've seen threads. Dunno how to mess with BIOS but will check it out.

I already have wake timers set to off.

The sleep issues are completely caused by random actions. They never happen the same way. Example I hit windows key>sleep sometimes it will sleep ok, sometimes it will sleep for a few hours then fail and sometimes it will immediately fail without sleeping and I have to pull the battery or long press the power button.

In case your windows power options has hybrid sleep enabled, try disabling that and see.
