How long is your boot up time?
From cold off to browser open and navigated to some webpage. -
show off :|
i want one too
my 4k's are faster though
-
Bootup is probably either side of 15 seconds. I don't boot much.
-
You should time it with an application so everyone can battle and be crowned "King of Boot-y".
Just make sure you don't have a password for your login.Code:http://www.planetsoft.org/utils/BootTimer.exe
-
Also, how's the touchpad on that thing?
-
Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
Or just use Auto-login and Lock. I use that for my Z, logs you in, then locks you out so Windows will still load behind the scenes
In any case, I'm hella jealous Beaups
-
I'll run some tests later tonight. It's nice. the 1080p screen has a bit of a green cast compared to my Z11 900p screen. Touchpad is acceptable, not great. Keyboard is good. Thing is fast, really fast.

Does it have the long POST that the Z1 has? -
Crazy speeds
Have you got the 256 Gb or 512 Gb SSD ? -
Post is fast, not to mention you can disable post with fast boot. It's 256GB raid (2x128) gen THREEEEEE
-
Are all of the Z21's SSDs raid 0 ?
-
yes.
congrats beaups -
lovelaptops MY FRIENDS CALL ME JEFF!
Crazy sick numbers, beaups
. Why does CrystalDiskMark always seem to show one or more inconsistent results, like your 4k read time? I get the same thing with ATTO, consistently on 16k write times.
-
beaups, can you please post ATTO Disk Benchmark v2.46 results?
-
Hi beaups! Sorry to hijack this thread but I have a quick question... what's your personal opinion about all the speaker issues on the Z2? I'm looking at the owner's thread and I am kind of worried to order mine. I sometimes like to sit in bed and watch something on Netflix on my laptop. I'm usually not alone so headphones are not an option.. an actual speaker system is not an option either! Looking at the owner comments, is making me worried as to whether I'll have problems with something this simple!
-
I'll run some other benchmarks later tonight. The speakers sound like utter crap. Way worse than the Z1, and I didn't think that was possible. I think they may be unsuitable for even watching movies in bed.
Relatively speaking, the MBA next to the Z sounds audiophile grade.... -
Whoa that's kind of disheartening. It would be really sad to not get a laptop like this because of sound issues
Especially when there are no alternatives around! I guess my options now are crappy speakers, or give up on the ultra-portable category and just get a 15" Thinkpad
(I don't want a Macbook, and I want a decent screen.. both resolution and quality-wise)
-
Man, this benchmark makes me tempted to return my Z12 and buy a Z21
-
That's a very frightening statement indeed. I thought the Z1's speakers were bad enough already.
Anyway, back to the topic of disk speed, how fast do applications fire up? Can like you boot up your browser immediately after you login? My Z1 lags for 1 second before being able to do so, while I've seen up to 7 seconds of waiting for my quad core 7200rpm desktop......
Any comments on other higher demanding applications (Photoshop, Vegas, etc.)? -
Are you running anti-virus? Installing AVG 2011 on my ThinkPad destroyed my fast boot times, and I'm considering alternatives.
-
Nope, boots insanely fast, even with the 128GB SSD flavor. Startup performance is in the same category as the Macbook Airs.
If you config the fast boot option, there is no Intel RST display, no Sony logo, just goes to Windows startup.
The Control panel tells you that USB keyboards won't be recognized until Windows loads, but no big deal there. I guess you'd lose external keyboard access to the BIOS, but who cares. -
I run MSE for AV.
-
This .
My Z21 SSD is kind of fast
