    Hi!

oh my goodness :( it scares me.

My Sony laptop Sz160p just shut off while I was on it surfing websites through firefox. It was just one of those sites that I always visit for personal use, like reading news and getting on spaces like facebook/cyworld.

Then my computer shut off as if someone unplugged my computer (I didn't have a battery attached to it since I found out that my computer uses the battery first than the outlet power no matter what). So thinking that my power went out, I checked my electric clock, but it was working fine. I plugged my computer into other outlet where I was charging my phone from, and the computer just would NOT turn on at all. I tried to hold on the power button to turn it on also, but it just wouldn't turn on at all.

It scares me because I got it as a graduation gift and it was pretty expensive at that time, but I really wanted it and so my parents ended up getting it for me although it was very expensive from how much they make.

Also, we got it from compUSA and (and I don't even know when the warranty ends) since they went bankrupt, I won't even be able to have the place to get it fixed without much cost. I got a mail from them long ago saying that we could go to Circuit City to get it fixed, but I heard something that there is no guarantee that I will be getting back my laptop if I leave it there to get it fixed?

Can someone help me? I don't make that much of money and my parents also work very hard so there is like noo way that we can spend that much of money on it. AHH!!

BTW, Circuit City's dead too, so that's not really an option.

Will it turn on with a battery in it?

    try this...

take the battery out, and then plug in the power adapter and try to turn it on. once it turns on, see if everything works and shut it off and then put the battery back.

Hello! no one answered for couple hours after I posted it up.. so I gave up.. but I just remembered about it again and thought I would double-check it, which was a good thing because there are replies! Thank you guys! but nothing is working.

-The light on the AC adapter is on
-It will not turn on with the battery in it (tried it with the ac adapter AND without the ac adapter).
-It will not turn on with the ac dapter alone (without the battery).

So I have tried everything that all of you have suggested but still no sign of computer working at all (or even turning on.. it's just dead)! What should I do?!??

There is nothing we can do if all that does not work. I bet the problem is with the laptop itself. You need to go to Sony for warranty (if no more than 1 year old).

Sorry mate, I think that the only things you can do now.
