Is it possible to just install this one over the older installation of the driver or do I have to uninstall the older ones first?

The readme implies you can just install it over the top, but I haven't tried it yet.

The 5Ghz wireless N is still useless in my Z570 IMHO.

My wife's TZ (intel wireless 4965AGN) connects at 300MBit everywhere in the house and is rock solid.

My Z when set to 5Ghz, only connects at 150Mbit even when just beside the router, but the main problem is that when I move to a different room it instatly drops to somewhere around 60Mbit and occasionally to 6-10Mbit in every 30 seconds. Meanwhile the connection is also droping all the time. It is unusable.
I hade to swith to 2,4Ghz, it is stable, but still the reception is not as good\fast as on the TZ..

    Shame...

Raczkri, I have a TZ and dlink DIR 655 and I can only connect at 130Mbit. Can you share any insight on how your wife's TZ is able to connect at 300MBit? Thanks.

I have a dlink DIR-855 router. 300Mbit worked with the TZ pretty much out of the box. You just need to use 5GHz band and WPA2 Security. Everything else I just left at default setting on the router and on the laptop too. If I use 2,4Ghz it connects at 150Mbit only.

The TZ is a TZ92 so a bit newer model than you have, I don’t know if it makes any difference though as the wireless card is the same in both I think.

The router model is the important factor I believe. I upgraded from a Linksys WRT300N router, because it connected with both my laptops at only 54Mbit (so no N, just G), no matter what I have tried

I can make a screenshot of the router configuration page if you’d like when I get home.

I feel your pain with the WRT300N. The best one if you want to go with Linksys is the WRT310N. WRT610N adds a possibility for network storage but seriously, I don't think people will benifit much from that.

To obtain 5GHz band, is that "N only mode"? Currently I have my DIR-655 set to N and G. Could be the newer DIR-855 you have as well. Screen shot would be helpful if you don't mind. Thxs.

Yeah I don't think the intel wifi 5100 card is that great. Anybody know where the wireless card is located inside the Z?

I opened up my Z today to see if I could change out the card, but couldn't figure out where the card is located. The insides are packed super tight and not very user serviceable.

My thinkpad t61 with the older intel wifi 4965agn card is faster (connects at 300 mbps vs 150mbps for the 5100), more stable, and gets better range than the 5100 card.

I upgraded to the latest drivers and it didn't make much difference. I'm hoping all this issues is due to immature drivers and can be fixed with future driver revisions.

I just wanted to let everyone know that if they use any type of leap authentication system or vpn access, this new driver revision improves the connection....ALOT

I finally had the chance to test it out, I couldn't really test it at home because I run a standard WPA encryption, but with leap or vpn, this improves and maintains the connection better then before.

    just my .02 cents!
