Looks like they are available right now.

Check out the SZ381 with the carbon weave pattern. Too bad they don't seem to have any close ups of that.
-
See threads about earlier premium models, especially the Japanese ones (like I have, the SZ90). Same carbon weave.
-
The Premiun Model is NOT at the fastest CPU speed possible. Will that change later? Will I be able to get the premium model at the fastest processor speed for the Core 2 Duo, 2.33 Ghz?
-
Only if you get it from Japan.
-
So you're saying that the past Premium Models never came in the fastest CPU speeds available at that time?
-
You can get the Japanese SZ with 2.33 ghz C2D at http://www.geekstuff4u.com/ -
Not in the US models. One of the reasons bought my SZ90 because the US premiums never offered the T2600 2.16GHz. The best US SZ Core Duo only offered the T2500.
Sony varies its offerings depending on the country. -
And I'm sure Dynamism would get it for you, too.
In Japan you can also customize your SZ premium which you can only do with the SZ340 non-premium in the USA. On the SZ340 you can get the 2.33GHz.
For example, when I got my SZ90, I got it with no biometric, no Felecia (Japanese thing), no bluetooth, but with the T2600. Got exactly what I wanted. -
Well, I guess I'll just live without the cool metallic black colors even spread about as in the Premium Edition. I just don't like the color scheme of the non-premium edition: black top and silver bottom. I think I'll even get a silver keyboard just to match the silver bottom. Seems like a weird thing To have a black keyboard w/ a silver casing around.
The color issue, sad to say, is a big issue. Also, I hear that the premium editions have brighter screens? Is this true? Have they actually measured the brightness of the two screens with a light meter showing significant differenct? -
Looks like Sony did not take the US market serious enough, although it probably makes the biggest share of its revenue from it. Well, screw it, I am going for Thinkpad.
-
I see Geekstuff4U has the 2.33 Ghz listed with Bluetooth 2.0 EDR. I didn't notice the U.S. premium carbon version with that either, so there are two things missing in the U.S. version if Geekstuff is accurate. I like the option of not getting the full amount of RAM and a 120 GIG HD with the Premium carbon version which brings the price down. I may consider this next week if Apple has no improved laptop offerings Sept 12th. I feel you on the unexpected shutdown issue, but a drive to the local Apple store for a quick replacement does not sound to bad with the great Apple service I have repeatedly had in the past.
-
Screen has been debated for a long time here. Do a search. The premium ones which have the thinner screen are better - they are very different. It's the best laptop screen I've ever seen.
-
Are the only differences between SZ381P/X and SZ360P/C the specs? or is there a difference in build etc... ?
-
Also the Sony site lists the t7200 as having 2mb l2 cach, that's a mistake right?
-
One difference is the 360 does not have the slow Cingular EDGE, which extra money I don't have to pay for since Sprint now has EVDO down to $59/month compared to Verizon's $80 if you don't have a voice plan. Also even if you do get EDGE with Cingular last I heard it was still at least at Sprints EVDO price, and right now in the U.S. EVDO rules in the wireless broadband market.
-
this is what's driving me out of my mind. they build the sleekest fastest coolest laptop out there and then put an edge card in? its like a ferrari with no tires. crazy in my opinion. i have the verizon evdo card and besides the extra bulk it works great.
-
I actually just want the Premium Carbon without barest minimum HD and barest minimum memory. I would like to get a 7200 RPM Momentus and the 2 Gig RAM is so much cheaper.
-
That's what I did with my SZ90. Works like a champ!
