ATI 5000 series and Nvidia upcoming 400 series are the only GPU that support DX11.

correct, It does not support dx11.

The Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT is a DirectX 10 graphics card for notebooks and successor to the 8600M GT. Compared to the 8600M GT or 9500M GS, the 9600M GT was produced in 65nm (allows higher clock rates with the same current consumption) and features a new PureVideo HD video processor (VP3) and HybridPower support.

Its not to say it wont play games that have dx11 support, it will just play them in dx9 or dx10 code paths.

What would be the main diff between DX11 and DX10? is there a significant increase in performance or something?

not performance but style and way of modelling graphic engine for games .. better and better vision of quality ... going closer to reality
from these game and graphic developers yu can play your games :)

*microsoft got direcX (direct3D) 1 to 11 only in windows
*silicon graphics got openGL written in C ( now released 4.0 and is realy good and to be maybe better than direct x Playstation 3 runin based OpenGL 3.1
*nvidia's got Physx : Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Mac OS X, Linux (32-bit, not GPU accelerated), Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
*and havok company they have havok engine supporting all platforms : Unix, Linux, PS3, PS2, PSP, GameCube, Wii, Mac, Xbox 360, Xbox, Windows

all graphic engines in the world ..

you can type all of these gaph engines in google and you will see which or which engine game runing on ..

they fighting same like graphic cards developers ..
which graphic engine will be nicer and more close to reality ..
