    Hello,

I just got my SONY NW240 from best buy.
I am really satisfied with this baby. however, i am experiencing a minor trackpad problem, and wondering if it's only my laptop that has this problem.

The trackpad of NW240 isn't as smooth as my previous laptops.

    * I am not talking about the texture of the trackpad, but the actual performance. also, it sometimes gets laggy or acts funny(gets out of control).. not very frequent, though.

anyone else who has NW240 experience this problem?

Actually, I have tried that a bunch of times..
but everytime i try, during the installation, an error pops up saying

[CANNOT COMPLETE THE DEVICE DRIVER INSTALLATION WIZARD]
    * Errors were encountered while installing the software for your device.
See the status column for more details.
    --- Status Column
Driver Name: Alps Touch Pad Driver (07/23/2009 7.202.505.108)
    Status: Install Failed
    .

hmm, so i tried to update through the Device Manager. Now the Windows recognize my touchpad as a PS/2 Compatible Mouse or something.

Does anyone else with NW240 have this problem?...

I even reinstalled the whole Operating System (Win 7).
Still, I am unable to install the driver...

I know this topic is old but I was wondering if you ever got the problem fixed. I am having the same exact issues.

Uninstall the driver both from device manager (check delete driver option), and Programs, restart, and install the Sony provided driver. Also Alps touchpads aren't as good as Synaptics.
