    Hi Guys,
Well, what can i say??.. i think i'm screwed. I formated my Vaio VGN-S46 using windows and not the recovery app (from DOS). the i thought the Recovery application well recognize that i don't have windows and i will start, but no. so Installed a copy of windows that i own and started the laptop. Now, I didn't make a recovery media Kit, so i can't start the recovery, but i have the recovery partiton on the HardDisk. Is there a place to download the Vaio Recovery Utility?? or another way around it.. It was a huge mistake from my side..

I will appreciate any help guys...

I did this. I formatted with a fresh copy of Media Center, keeping the recovery partition, but without making the recovery disks. I couldn't find any way to get the recovery partition to work so I ended up buying a set of Recovery Disks from Sony e-Support.

I doubt you can buy it from a retail store. I've never tried asking for recovery CDs. But I know HP and IBM one are free. You could try calling their tech suport. I'm pretty sure they will have one. Even if you have to pay I wouldn't think it would cost much. When I was working for HP we were only charging them 10 quid for the whole kit if its out of warranty.

If you still have the recovery partition, you may still be able to use it even though your c drive is tossed. Reboot the computer and when you see the Vaio Logo, press F10. That supposed to launch Vaio recovery program. At least that's how it works with my Sony SZ. Your model may use a different key. Give it a try and let us know whether it works or not.

Oh it seems like you still have your recovery partition. If you have installed your own windows just modified the boot.ini to boot from your recovery partition.

Another way is to download the drivers off their website and install it one by one. I prefer using my own OS and the utilitis that I need.
