Hey everyone. New guy here hoping you could help me out.

I've done some Googling and can't figure this out. I just got an SSD for my SVS15 and am doing a clean install of Windows 7.

A couple of things I'm struggling with.

    1st-
Vaio Smart Network. After the first time installing it, it didn't load and I couldn't use it. I tried to uninstall it from the Control Panel and reinstall it. However, after the uninstall, it won't install again at all. It looks like it did. It goes through the whole setup and then reboot. But after the reboot, Smart Network is nowhere to be found.

    2nd-
Fn keys don't work. I've installed the Hotkey drivers from the Sony website, but they still don't work.

I'm trying to keep my system as minimal as possible, so there are somethings I did not install. Is there other things that need to be installed that you can think of that these are dependent on?

I am looking to do this too Would be useful if anyone has some pointers.

Currently it's throwing up errors with the battery not being connected correctly which is annoying to say the least!

Hmmm, looks like I'm not the only one with the issues. As far as the battery goes, I did find a work around. Hope it helps.

Open the start menu for the search box.
    Search for MSCONFIG. Open msconfig.exe.
    Select the Startup tab.
    Uncheck ISB Utility.
    Click OK.

It stopped the error for me. Although, I don't know what side effects it would have if any.

Yea thanks for that mate - I found a video on youtube which showed the user deleting that exe file - no more errors for me! :)

I just have 2 outstanding issues now on my machine:

1: RAM - I have 8GB but windows reports 7.88 GB usable. - VERY RANDOM NUMBER! not the end of the world but it does bug me. I have installed all the windows 8 drivers and windows 7 drivers from here: Sony : SVS1513C5E updates | Download updates for SVS1513C5E which seems to work even on windows 7.

2: WIFI card only works in G mode at best? It can't run in N mode for some reason and the best speeds I can get is 54Mbps. I have had a look at the config of the card and in windows it states A/B/G mode - no mention of N.

Hi, the 7.88GB usable is nothing to worry about it, the missing memory is shared with Intel HD GPU, so that is normal i got the same :) Regarding the Wifi,if you see the A/B/G in N-6235 properties ADVANCED TAB/Wireless mode so that is ok too, in third line ( same tab ) you have something like 802.11n mode where you can ENABLE/DISABLE n mode.

I just did the same thing and was able to get the FN keys to work. However, I cannot get the backlit keyboard controls to work. What do I need to install for that functionality?
