I think someone should do an in-depth review on the Vaio FS. There aren't any good ones. :p

Vaio FS is a great laptop.
I have the Thinkpad T42 currently, and to be honest, I wish I had the Vaio FS instead. I don't need to be mobile and the FS is an excellent home entertainment system. Things to look out for are the weak hinges and the heat production/fan noise. The fan noise could be annoying is a quiet room, however I had the Celeron-M model so I don't have Pentium-M 1st hand experience.

The screen is amazing. The build quality is on par with Thinkpad T42 I have definetely. Perhaps even better to be honest.

Keyboard is good, but I am a big fan of white-grey keyboard because they attract so much dirt (I had an iBook for a few years, nightmare). If you can, absolutely get the black keyboard Sony Vaio FS.

IMO this is the best value laptop on the market. I mean for £650 you will not be able to buy a quality laptop with similar specs (I am in the UK currently).

I has good feature set, memory stick/duo slot (double one), firewire, 3 usb. Docking stations are available for it for a very expensive price.

What pisses me off is how Sony just throws expensive accesories on you and then changes their next laptop so you cannot use them together. They do this on purpose because they know people are just suckers for good looks and will pay extra money. IBM has a very good life of their accesories (maybe because they are business related).
Another thing I hate on the FS is that the headphone-out is on the front, makes connecting speakers a mess.

If you need any extra info, just ask :)
