One of my friend have a Sony VGN-C240E/B and he just cracked the screen yesterday. Does anybody know where I can find a service manual for this serie, I tried the sticky post but I couldn't find it. I called Sony this afternoon and they said that it could cost at least 600$ for a new screen (not included shipping fee) I was like...what?
I really want to give a shot try to fix this because I used to play around with some HP and Toshiba but Sony is something that I'm afraid...because everything seems to be too expensive with Sony and I don't want to ruin my friend's machine.
Thank you so much for your time.

everything is expensive with sony. did he get accidental coverage?
I think someone will post up a service manual for the CR series soon hopefully. Good luck. It looks to me like you may need to take off some of those rubber pads on around the screen to access screws to the frame of the LCD.
