    Hey guys

First of all, what a great forum!

I'm looking to buy a VAIO for business use but why is it that the best models are less than 13inches? Especially with the new one coming out tomorrow which might be 11inches.

I'm currently using a 14inch Acer. For users of the 11-13inch range, does it strain your eyes after prolonged use for like 6hours+ in a day? Is it as clear to read/see something on a smaller screen compared to a larger one? and which would you go for out of the 11 or 13 (I read that the TZ series were the most popular range, but isn't 11 inches too small?)

Thanks for any help! (and sorry if I sound a bit naive!)

It depends on your eyes as well as the screen. The new displays tend to be a bit brighter than the old ones which helps legibility, but can you easily read 8pt or 9pt print on paper? Sony screens are usually among the best.

Younger eyes are better able to handle the small stuff.

I've used an either 15 or 14" Medion laptop, now I'm using a 13.3" Sony widescreen SZ.

The only thing that hurts my eyes over time is brightness.

(I know, I could turn it down...)

The largest laptop I ever owned (VAIO r505) was just 12 inches and my subsequent ones (VAIO SRX, TR, TZ) have been 10-11 inches. I've written papers on all of them without any discomfort. Like using any other computer, an occasional break goes a long way towards helping your eyes. I'm still young so the small size doesn't bother me at all. I have a desktop at home when I want a big screen.
