Im getting my girlfriend a FW for Christmas. They are clearing out the FW190s now, and check out the price comparison for an FW190 now vs. the FW292 for the builds I would get:
FW190:
Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor T9400 (2.53GHz)
3 GB DDR2-SDRAM (DDR2-800, 2GB+1GB)
200 GB SATA Hard Disk Drive [7200 rpm]
DVD±R DL / DVD±RW / DVD-RAM Drive
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 with 256MB vRAM
LCD 16.4" (XBRITE-HiColor)
Extended Battery
$1499.99
FW292:
Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor T9400 (2.53GHz)
3 GB DDR2-SDRAM (DDR2-800, 2GB+1GB)
250 GB SATA Hard Disk Drive [7200 rpm]
DVD±R DL / DVD±RW / DVD-RAM Drive
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 with 512MB vRAM
LCD 16.4" (XBRITE-ECO)
Extended Battery
$1549.99
Very similar builds as you can see. I am formatting it and putting XP on as soon as I get it, and she doesnt game, so the difference in video card means nothing most she will do is watch a DVD. I can get the FW190 for $50 less today with a HiColor screen at 1600x900.
My main questions are any of you familiar with how Sony moves products around Christmas? Do they have cuts, or are their prices steady? Should I jump in now and get an FW190 and just keep it in the box for 2 months, or wait for the FW292 in late November and hope there is some sort of sale?
Also, right now I can sign up for the Sony card and save $100, that might not be around in late November either. What should I do?
Thanks.

You should get the FW 190. If your girl firend doesn't play games and watches movies for most of the time, the Hi-color screen will make more sense. The HD3470 is more than enough too. Hope this helps.
Need advice/opinion ? when to order FW based on time/price?
