I'm getting my Sony Vaio F Series at Best Buy today.
I just want to know the ff:

1> What is the minor/major issue for F Series?
2> Do i need to uninstall some of the installed software (bloatware)?
3> Is it advisable to do fresh install?
4> Any advantage of buying directly to Best Buy vs. Sony Online store?

    Thank you in advance

1.) Whine noise. Look through the F series thread - there's a work-around for now. Keyboard flex (but doesn't appear with normal typing pressure).
2.) I would do a fresh install. I have Win 7 discs on hand but if you don't you'll probably need to create a restore disc from your machine first.
    3.) I would, that's just me though.
4.) I have the BB model and it's great. Usually they sell gimped versions but they have the FHD model with the better graphics card. Sony online has more customizations like if you want to max ram or get a blu-ray writer instead of a reader.

You'll need to create a restore disc.

I received my F series from BB online yesterday, not knowing about this 'whine' issue.

During the first boot I'm there listening to the thing thinking that's not right. Clearly the noise was coming from the speakers.

A short google showed this was more than an issue with just my unit.

To me it sounds like an unused sound card mic pin is not grounded and is acting as an antenna and amplifying all RF in the unit.

Anyway, I phoned Sony who told me they would ship a box to have it repaired.

Needless to say, I am returning it to BB as defective, because a brand new laptop should not need repair.

Aside from that, it appeared an ok machine, although the hard drive boot time was slow, perhaps because of the junk they load on it. I never got as far as FDISK as it's now headed to UPS.

sorry my bad I just checked it and I only have the Atheros wireless adapater.

I try to uninstall the wireless adapter (Atheros) and restart my computer, after doing this I can’t connect to my Router so I do clean install and after installing all drivers (except bloatware) I still experience wireless connection problem. Most of the time my internet connection is dead. I need to disconnect and reconnect my wireless adapter to make it work again, after couple of minutes it’s dead again.

Anybody knows how to correct this wireless connection problem?
