Guys I need some help pleeeaaassee. I got my laptop this morning and of course the first thing I wanted to do was format the drive and install my copy of windows XP on it. Well it turned out to be not so easy and I have spent over 9 hours now trying to get all of the drivers to work. I have come close but this is the problem I have now:

-The sound Card does not work. Says it can not be started with an excalamation mark next to it.
-There is also an exclamation mark next to PCI DEVICE under Other devices. Im assuming that is why the sound card is not working. Everything else seems fine so far and I got it to work. But I cant get this **** PCI Device to work or the sound. I have no idea what to do now Im stumped and tired after doing this the whole day. Hopefully you guys can help me out as it seems people have done such things before. Thanks everyone for your time and help.

oh yea and I jsut realized that my modem is not installed also. Im not sure if the audio and modem are related. Also when I Was installing bluetooth it asked me ti plug the device in or something. Im not sure if it installed correctly or not.

And I did not even get up to getting the Fn button to workl and the volume buttons (Not sure its possible). Guys if someone could point me in the direction of the drivers that I will need I will be forever grateful to you.

the only thing i see in device manager, is toshiba bluetooth port 64. And if i try to install Toshiba bluetooth stack, half way during installatio, it will ask me to plug in my bluetooth device???????

I installed everything from sony support web site and still no go.
radditz I will check out the guide you posted although it looks quite confusing especially since I do not want to slip stream anyhthing. I just want to installt he basic drivers and create a ghost image.

Quick question. Does the FE670G even have bluetooth? I restored back to the original and I dont think it even has bluetooth. Any1 have a clue?

    rihgt I hgave the 670G.

Anyway I am following the guide above and am alsmot done although I did not have some thing on my cds and on my computer that where listed. Such as sony utilities or the sony.apc file that I would need to extract. I am doing my best with everything else though and hopefully it will work this time. But does any1 have a clue as to why I had "Other PCI Device" listed and could not get the sound or modem cards to work?

ok guys so I went through the whole guide and it did not work. After booting and windos copying all the files necessary it still said something was missing and would not boot further. So again I decided to do a clean install and this time follow the order specifide. Now here is the problem. OnceI got up to the sound card it said "Device Object Not Present, Restart the system and run setup again." And I can not get the sound card to install! Also if I go on to install the modem drivre it says "Unable to update driver."Help guys please.

The only things I didnt unstall beucase I had no files for them from the list where:

    07 - Vaio Battery Checker
    08 - Vaio Power Management

But I believe my notebook control came with the utilities because thats how it is stated ont he sony web site. Guys please help me get the sound card to work. What am I missing???

Install the correct chipset drivers. Some laptops require the sony-released version of the chipset drivers in order for the DSP that controls the audio and modem to be correctly installed.
