Do you have an intact recovery partition and did you burn the recovery DVDs when you first got your Z? If the answer to either question is yes, you might be able to save some hassle installing drivers. On the other hand, you'll get all the trialware etc back again by using the Sony recovery.

Hey thanks for the replies. Well I fixed the resolution problem by finding and installing the video card drivers. Now I have 2 problems: I cant use the keys on the keyboard to control brightness, volume, etc. What do I need to install for that? And the other problem is, I keep getting this popup telling me to reinsert battery while i hibernate the computer. I did but the popup keeps coming up.

    thanks again

you need to install all of the drivers and sony utilities from the sony support site if you want everything to work. I would recommend downloading all of them and installing them one by one. You should install the Video Drivers and utilities first then everything else.
