I use a sony vaio FZ31S and I havent encountered any problem yet but I want to be sure and dicided to make the revory cd's. I know that sony dosent provide you with the cd's but you can make yours from vaio recovery center. The problem is that when I try to make a recovery cd it says: " Cannot find the recovery drive. If you have not removed the recovery drive, restarting the system may correct the issue. Ofcourse restarting didnt solved the problem. I am sure that there is a recover partition because in my computer> manage>disk managment: it shows that there is a patrition 11,18GB healthy (active primary partition). Also if i press F10 at boot nothing happens

    Thanks for your help.

If you are seeing the recovery partition as "active, primary partition" then something has messed it up. That coupled with the fact that the F10 key doesn't work says things are indeed screwed up. It should show in disk management as EISA Configuration. See attached. Luckily Sony will sell you a set for about $20.

No, but there is no need to contact them for anything except to order a set of System Restore disks. Just tell them you wiped the hard drive and now your DVD set is unreadable so you need to order AND PAY for a new set.

If you have any virtual disc software installed (like Daemon Tools?) you will have to uninstall it as it blocks recognition of the Recovery Partition and gives the error message you are getting.

Norton Ghost also can cause problems and may need to be uninstalled.

This does not account for F10 not working - so either you are pressing it at the wrong time or you do have deeper problems as Gary has pointed out.
