i have a TZ17TN (asian model, 1.2GHz, 100G HD, 2G RAM). the HD has been acting up lately and getting bad sectors. i was trying to get it disassembled so that I can get the HD replaced.

i've managed to get all the screws removed, carefully separated the top and bottom covers from the front (space bar side) all the way to the back. however, i got stuck at the end where the top and bottom covers seem to be mounted by the two drums where the LCD attaches to the main unit.

any one has any clue on how to separate this portion? also, if any one knows where to get large size 1.8" HD in the states, would really appreciate the tips!

    thanks!!

you have to gently bend the top plastic and untuck a little lip on either side that protrudes into the round "drum" areas.

Wonderful! i got it out now. Really appreciate your tip.

guys, if you want to do this, better get your wife or girlfriend standby with a towel to wipe your sweat off.

for the first time, you really have to do it slowly and carefully. once you get it done the first time, you should be able to repeat this without problem. i've now done it (disassemble and re-assemble) 3 times now. (swapping different hard drives)
