    hi guys,

I'm looking for some info and advice for my FZ140E battery. I have it for 2 years and a half, and its battery is no longer useful. I have always used the laptop with the A/C adapter connected, and I just found out that this is exactly what causes the battery to die. Right now, the battery can't hold my laptop on for more than 30min, even if it's 100% charged before disconnecting the A/C adapter.

So, I'm looking for a new battery, but I must admit that I'm a rookie when it comes to computers and stuff. Since I'm gonna buy a new one, why not upgrade, right? So the intention is to get a 7200mhA+ battery.

I found this guy on eBay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260536206747&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

But, given the number of models out there in the market, I have some doubts:

    1) Could you tell from the advertisement if this battery is Sony genuine? I wouldn't be surprised if it's not.
    2) I'm totally confused with the PNs. He advertises a number of them in the auction( VGP-BPS8 VGP-BPS8A VGP-BPS8B VGP-BPL8 VGP-BPL8A ), and I don't really know which one to look for. Mine is a VGP-BPS8, 4800mhA. Does the PN refer to the Vaio/battery model or to the capacity of each one? I mean, should I look for a VGP-BPS8 but with a higher capacity?
    3) Could anyone share a link to a reliable webstore where I can get a nice battery for a reasonable price? Note that I'm from Brazil, so I need the webstore to ship worldwide. Also, is there a battery with even higher capacity? I've found some 10000mHA batteris in the web, but I'm not sure if they are genuine( and reliable ).

Thanks in advance for any help, I'll really appreciate it.

    Cheers,

    Dadozen

I can't tell if it is a REAL Sony battery or not either. So just ask the seller. Some folks have had bad experiences with third party batteries, since the Sony Software MIGHT not charge them if it does not recognize the battery.

You might lookup those other model numbers and see if they are really the same battery. As far as I know there were only two battery models for an FZ the small capacity one and the high one.

I don't have any clue where to buy a real one cheap.

    Thanks for your opinion Gary.

I'm searching for the VGP-BPS8 battery on eBay, and I've found the following capacities:

    10400 mAH - http://cgi.ebay.com/10400mAh-BATTER...ItemQQptZLaptop_Batteries?hash=item27ae2b5271
7800 mAH - which the seller claims to be real genuine - http://cgi.ebay.com/7800mAh-Genuine...ItemQQptZLaptop_Batteries?hash=item3ca6ce9ea8
6600 mAH - found only one
5200 mAH - the most common
4800 mAH - the one that came with my laptop

Note that the 7800 mAH battery is more expensive than the 10400 mAH, which can lead one to think that it's genuine indeed, while the 10400 mAH wouldn't be genuine, since it's cheaper.

Gary, when you say small and high capacity ones, can you specify which capacities were they?

If I find out that the 7800 mAH battery is genuine, I'll most likely buy it instead of the 10400 mAH one.

    Thanks again!

The High capacity one was 7800. I don't know what the smaller one was, as I never owned one. I am fairly certain there were only two ever available. You should be able to find out on Sony's esupport website (esupport.sony.com).

Ah, I see my good friend Rajesh chimed in with BETTER links!

Thanks a lot guys! The seller from the 7800mAH has just responded me, and he says that his battery is 100% genuine.

Well, if anyone has more useful info, please post!

    Thanks!

Seller of the 10400 mAH battery responded to me and the battery is NOT genuine.

I'll probably get the 7800 mAH battery then. Too bad it's not cheap at all :(
