Ok , the ATI website says that 10.6 is not compatible with my 5650 , are there any modded drivers.

If so where do i get them from, my device id is below if you need it.

    Thanks.

    Hi.

I have previously downloaded "10-6_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_enu.exe" and it did not work.

But the driver you linked "10-6_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc.exe" worked fine, I wonder why has it been modded.

Also what site is the driver from?

    It worked great, Thanks.

It's not modded at all, the download link is from ATI's own site. I think the first one you downloaded is the desktop version, whereas the one I linked is mobility. Although I thought they both worked anyway..

I think you are right, it must have been the desktop version :(

It`s a bit of a pain that ATI is using that stupid downloader that stops you from using a perfectly good driver.

    Thanks again

You can download drivers from ATI directly for a Sony machine? I have a nVidia card in mine and they just refer me to Sony! Download isn't allowed direct.

Not officially. Sony restrict ATI drivers too, but the main method that ATI use to distribute drivers is via a small downloader utility which downloads the driver. You can't download drivers on a Sony with this, but whether sneakily or not, ATI have placed no restriction in the raw driver installer files, which can also be found with a bit of digging.

Aha! That's a lot more sensible. Thanks Mythdat.
What with locked BIOSes and Sony only hardware drivers I'm beginning to think I'm living in a Nanny State. Oh! I am!
