I buyed an sony vaio fz38m and that was the badest buy i ever have done. The monitor is crap and yet sony say they dont see any problems with it. Even my brothers laptop that is 1 of the first laptops released is alot better then this sony ****. I find it very strange that laptops are unable to create good monitors when tv can be good on flatscreens. Anyhow my vaio is slow and sounds far to much and real crappy keys. The battery is total worthless. I payed alot of money on a worthless laptopThe weirdest thing is i never learn the fact sony are crap on everything. I have started to save money to a real laptop so i can throw this **** in trashcan och drive over it with my car.

You'll find that other brands are much worse than Sony.

Well, I've owned a Sony SZ320 and currently own a SZ650 and I really have have no complaints. I must admit though my SZ650 had the famous "green/yellowish horizontal bar" on white backgrounds but my screen was replaced under warranty.
What exactly are the issues you're having with your FZ? You mentioned a crappy battery and screen, however provide some details. -
to be honest your remarks sounds like someone who have been using a vaio Z then moved to a acer ee pc (no offence to the eee pc
), the FZ series shouldn't be so bad though, whats your spec?
-
Whats the warranty for ? There must be a replacement/return policy from the place you bought....

However, keep in mind that yeah, they've made progress on flat screen LCD monitors and TV, but in general laptop screens are still not as good as their external counterparts (less colors, worse response rates, worse viewing angles, etc).
however.. I do agree, the FZ's keyboard sucks. (but the SZ sucks even more) -
my spec on the lap is
intel core2
t8100 processor 2,1ghz cpu
4gb/ram
200gb hd but whole 26gb is gone in nomansland
gforce 8400m gt -
Are you possibly comparing matte screens (older laptop) to glossy screens (your FZ)? How is your lighting condition? I've compared my Sony Vaio SR with my Toshiba Satellite A135 in the same room with bright sunlight streaming through the window. My satellite screen become practically a mirror while my SR screen was still perfectly visible (though with some reflection since it is still a glossy screen). I think if you are perhaps used to matte screens, then glossy might seem like a step back to you, especially in brighter lighting conditions.

Actually some of the older notebook computers do have better displays.
IBM and Fujitsu used to make displays with IPS and PVA/MVA type displays which had excellent picture quality. Now the notebook manufacturers are not using these screens because of the cost. They are using the less expensive TN type panels which also dont have the picture quality that the IPS/MVA/PVA type panels did.
This is also true for your home computer monitors. You will find that the IPS type panels have the best picture quality but also are more expensive and harder to find. -
when im sitting in a dark room i have big problems to get a clear picture. it be darker or lighter depending on what angle i have my monitor in. It is extremlly hard to get a good balance with a clear picture and that annoing me so much.

My example:

Research these things man. -
All consumer laptops comes with glossy displays these days. Look at the new macbook and macbook pro. The colors are much worse than your sony.
-
Speaking of keys...
I love my SZ's keyboard!!!
Keyboard are a matter of preference - so some people will love it, some will hate it, this doesn't automatically make it bad. -
The point is all notebook computers these days are using TN panels which dont have very good viewing angles. The trick is to find one that looks halfway decent looking straight on. Im sure if you look around you will find some that look worse than yours and then you will be happy
Or your other option is to buy an older notebook 15" notebook computer such as IBM T43p or T60P which have IPS type screens or Fujitsu N3010 which has MVA type screen. You will get excellent PQ and viewing angles with these computers. There are many on Ebay right now. -
I agree, I think it just a different opinion about "glossy" screen VAIO used todays. But, tell me, how many times do you use your laptop with looking at screen in different angle rather than just in front of it? I think everyone use their laptop with screen right in front of them, so not a big deal.

I did a ride today to several stores and i actually realised 99.999999% of the laptops have glossy screens. So it is something i have to learn to live with i guess how annoying it even is for me. But i had a talk with a seller in a compstore about this and he also hate theese glossy lcd screens. But he told that is what the most people want and he cant understand it. well i dont understand that eigher. When got an angle in a way it is kinda enjoyible so have i to sit still if i move 20mm so is it a mess again. I looked on an mac and i have to say mac seems to be lightyears better theese days. so i might concider to buy an mac
-
I also have got a phonenumber to a company that have somekind of plast that you put on the screen that put off the glossy thing and make the screen better. I gonna try that next weekend
everything is worth a try.
-
Whether it is glossy or matte type screen it is what it is and that is a TN type panel which doesnt have the best PQ or viewing angles. -
So in other words the companyes who create laptops create **** with purpose and we people are foolish who buy it. lool what a suprise.

well you have a point there. But yet it should be some option example a model with good screen in focus for us who find that importent.
Never again sony
