The SSD in the Z by itself is very average. But what makes it very quick is that they run in RAID 0. So a 512gb SSD might have 2x 256gb SSDs in RAID 0 or 4x 128gb in RAID 0 if I recall correctly.

This one has 2x256. I don't think the Quad is/was avalible in the states.

AFAIK, all Z11/Z12/Z13 with 512GB come with a 4x128GB quad setup. Despite the theoretic possibility there could be a 2x256 with the SSDs from the JP-only Z14, I dont think this would be the case. This 2x256 was misleading advertising since the initial release of the Z11. Read on here: Definitive VAIO Z11 Series SSD Drive Configurations

Long story short, you will get a quad setup (4x128GB populated among two physical units/PCBs) just like all the others with a 512GB setup.

I don't mind WLPG 2011, but I could never figure out how to view the photos in full screen :(

And why the hell are the slide shows so basic? The ones in iPhoto are smooth, elaborate and slick.

Just another small withdrawal from OSX.

Full screen? View -> Full Screen -> Fade and you can pause it and netvigate using the arrow keys...

I think you should go for Lightroom if you want a more professional photo management tool but it is not cheap

I think WLPG 2011 works quite well provided it is a freeware

    Does anyone really like iphoto?

256GB SSD for VPC-Z are double sided 2x128GB SSDs.
    Your 512GB is 2x(2x128GB), it's a quad raid0 SSD
