I think that's for XP, no? There's no Advanced tab under Vista's power options. Instead it's under Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what closing the lid does.

Checked under XP and it does have lid closed actions, but no lid open, same as Vista.

Edit: I found it. It's in the VAIO Control Center, under Power Management > Lid Action Settings. There's an option in there for what to do when the lid is opened. Guess that makes another reason to keep the Control Center lol.

    Try here:
www dot sony-asia dot com /support/download/product/vgn-z12gn/modelfirst

(I'd give you the URL but forum rules won't allow it)

Is this the same update the EP0000163850.exe performs, only for US version?
Can anybody confirm that this update works for the VGN-Z11-WN/B"?

The new BIOSes seem to include a few minor bugfixes for stuff which hadn't bothered me, and also cut about 5-10 secs off the boot time, as there isn't such a long pause between switching on and seeing the VAIO logo. I installed the version from the JP site and it worked fine (the utility is in English).

Which download are you referring to? I used the Japanese firmware utility mentioned at the beginning of this thread and it worked fine to upgrade my European Z11VN's firmware. I would imagine the Z11WN isn't that different, but I might be wrong.

It's on www.vaio-link.com. Dunno if this link will work because I know in the past I've had to log on to that site to see anything useful, but here goes:

    http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/down...ads/Beta/EP0000163850.exe&ip=EP0000163850.htm

And here's the blurb regarding what's fixed:

I should probably mention that I haven't tried this on my Z11 yet... I'm at work. ;)

Tried this on my Z. Appears to be the same update.

Didn't notice anything. Perhaps a slightly faster boot (got to login screen faster), but there's some windows update error and one of the servers in my domain is down, so it realy did take quite some time anyhow.

I found that the computer booted through the Bios screen in about 2 seconds. At least it helps a little. I would love for sony to give us a more detailed bios with a few more options (like skipping the visual bios all together and some processor and ram clocking options).
