I just received a VAIO Update notification to update the BIOS on my FE590P
to Rev. R0072J3, April 12, 2006. Has anyone done this update yet? I don't seem to have any issues right now, should I update it anyway?

I think if you don't have any issues with wireless or standby then there is no reason to update since this is what the bios update is addressing.

I am still waiting for the bios update that lets utilize 667MHz RAM....

To the FE owners out there: Do you mean you just can't put 667 memory on the memory slots on your machine or it would just work as a 533 if you put it in ?

Ya know, I just realized that you weren't talking about the SZ series that I had. D'oh! At least I never got around to trying to install it. I assume it wouldn't let me though anyway. I guess these standby problems exist on other models too? At least the latest WLAN driver seems to have fixed my problems so far...

You can put it in, but it will clock down to 533. My 5 CL 667 works as a 4 CL 533.

I wrote to Sony asking if they are planning to release a BIOS update and their answer is so retarded I seriously doubt the person replying is able to read English.

Q: When are you planning, if at all, to have a BIOS available that lets FE owners utilize 667 MHz RAM. As of now we can only use 533 MHz RAM.

A: The BIOS update that you have requested is not currently available through Sony. Please visit your support site periodically for any new releases.

Thank you for the opportunity to be of assistance.

ORLY? It's not available? Well, thanks for clearing this up.
