Hey guys I just bought a FW series laptop. Everything is pretty nice about it
so far but what I noticed right away was the screen looks a bit blurry... It doesn't look clear at all, its at the point where I can tell its blurry but not so bad that I cant read something. I'm comparing this to other laptops and my LCD montior I've used for the past 7 years for my desktop. It's much crispier in other desktop and laptops. Also that colors look faded? If thats the right way to put it... like I went into paint and painted whole screen black and it looked grayish almost. I noticed if I tilted the screen in a angle the colors get a little darker/ more contrast.

I've tried looking everywhere to change this and I just can't find a solution. First time I've used Vista. Is this normal or can I change it in some settings?

    My specs are....

    2.26 ghz
    4gb ram
320 hd (why does it say capacity of 290 gb???)
regular video card, non ATI ( should/can I upgarde the GC, wil that make a crispier better color screen?)

I've searched the forums and no one seems to talk about it, sorry if I've missed the topic.

    Thanks in advance

Which screen did you get? I've got an xbrite eco screen and it's beautiful, by far the best screen I've ever used. Does everything look blurry or just the fonts?

Make sure you're running at native resolution.
Right-click the desktop, Personalize, Display Settings, and check your resolution.

Otherwise... the FW I saw in a store had a great screen... so if yours is crappy then you may need to exchange it.

And no, graphics card affects 3D rendering speed... not image quality (unless it's really broken I guess).

What exactly is native resolution? Basically whatever settings the offer right?

The letters are blurry, like fuzzy espeically smaller letters for example the ones
to the left of this website.

Should I bring in my laptop to compare with others?

Native res is the res that matches the number of pixels in the screen. For the Sony FW, this is 1600x900 resolution. So make sure it's set to that.

Hmmm you could try turning off ClearType and see if you like that better.

    Yes.
