wait, because every model update had a new GPU 190 = 3470 290=3650 390=4670?(that would be good enough) :D

For some reason, the specifications mention an external Ati graphics card. Anyone else see this? (link above)

Here's the link where they mention an external card for the FW300 series
    http://training.b2b.sony.com/VAIO_computers/Notebooks/FW300_series_training2.cfm

and here's the link where they mention an external card for the FW100 series
    http://training.b2b.sony.com/VAIO_computers/Notebooks/FW100_series_training2.cfm

FW100 doesn't have an external card, it has an internal dedicated card. So, I think when they say external card, what they really mean is an internal dedicated card, as opposed to integrated card like Intel X4500HD.

msi has a 4670 AND 4850 notebook coming out this month im sure thats what this is. It's extremely exciting as the msi 16" notebook with 4670 weighs less the 6 pounds making it one of the lightest 16" notebooks so this will be an interesting showdown between these two.

this will be good as well also look at performance wise the 4670 outperforms the 3850 in some games so lets see how this plays out :D i want to see more colors for the FW though give me a red vaio FW i'd love that :D

I actually ordered one of those today from Newegg. It has everything I was looking for in an FW, which I decided on a few weeks ago. Its a good deal now, but if you bought a FW290 cto before christmas you probably could have gotten the same specs but for a cheaper price, what with the various coupons and discounts that sony style had on the 290 cto. But those are gone now.

Nobody seems to know if there will be better deals or not in the immediate future, since sony is getting ready to release new models. $1250 seems like a decent price to me. I don't buy computers very often, I've had my desktop for 8 years...

I ordered a 290 CTO before Christmas and got an amazing deal, similar to the specs on the 373... P8600, BD-ROM, FullHD... smaller HDD and less memory, but only paid $997+tax... I ordered the 320GB @7200RPM and 4GB kit from Newegg and ended up spending $1237 TOTAL... so I'd say it's pretty equivalent.

SonyStyle canceled my order like a-holes, but whatever.

May I ask where did you find these benchmarks? Because I cannot see a 128 bit card beating a 256 bit one. Thats like a 8700M GT beating a 9700M GTS.

sure here you are it clearly shows that the 4670 beats the 3850 in some games:

    http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3405&p=6

dont let the door hit you too hard plasma :D

256 bit doesnt mean squat it really depends on how demanding the game is the future is 256 but that future isnt here yet.

Is it really that much harder to type yes or no?

Because honestly, it is a lot more work to go back and reread your info.

I love how people forget forums are about efficiency. It can be a 50 page thread and someone will tell you to go back in the thread.

All you need to do is to read post #1 and click ONE link to pdf spec for that particular model. That pdf spec will tell you everything you need to know about that particular model, more than what I can write here.

Speaking about efficiency, it is more efficient to refer people to my original thread because I posted everything people need to know about the new FW300 models. I spent a lot of time researching for FW300 and I compiled everything in one message for easy search.

It may be but unfortunately FW300 series will still come with 3650 and not 4670. Sony has posted 14 pdf specs (see my original thread, post #1) for a variety of FW300 models and none of them come with 4670, only 3650.

Just talk to the sales representative about my retuned laptop, she said that they are all of stock for the FW290 CTO ( Out of black option, out of HD screen also). But it will be replace with the new model..

She said that it will be avaliable within one week from today. But she said that FW300 series, everything seem to be the same as far as hardware.. but just a different model number.

So you're telling me it is more efficient to refer people back to the original thread rather than typing yes or no?

You're telling me, it was more efficient for you to type the above quoted, than to type yes or no?

Or you could of responded with YES OR NO, and then referred back to your post.

Like I said, people forget forums are just...forums! "It can be a 50 page thread and someone will tell you to go back in the thread."

We are all volunteers and not paid tech support who are obligated to answer your question exactly the way you want it. And there is no need to browse 50 pages just to get into post#1. At the top right hand corner of every thread, there is a link where you can go to post#1 directly. In my thread, it look like this, Page 4 of 4 < 1 2 3 4 , click on 1, click on the PDF file of any FW300 models you want, and the information you need is right there.

If you expect people to do all the work for you, this forum is not the place to be. Call Sony and ask them!

I was not saying specifically, that this situation had 50 pages. When I made that statement, I was generalizing.

I'm not expecting anyone to do "all the work" for me. However, forums are the place to be to get useful information, and there are many people who are happy to do so because of they are what I like to call enthusiasts. It's odd how you're saying that this is not the forum to be at if I'm expecting all the people do the work for me, when you were just boasting about compiling all that information.

Point blank, it would have been easier to just respond with yes or no, and then refer back to the main page. It gets irritating for myself when I actually search (not only here but many forums), and I run into a bunch of people saying to search, or go back, or search some more, or it's been covered, etc. That is not efficient. Forums are about abundant amount of information, and regardless of how many times you give it, it will be more abundant and therefore easier for the next person. Instead of just directing people to go do something else, you can just give the answer and redirect.

I don't have the time to answer yes or no. I don't have the time to answer every single question that people ask as my time is limited. And I compiled all the pdf spec for a reason so that when people have a question for any particular model, they can just refer to it.

Now, if you still are too lazy to find out the answer to your question in a 2 page pdf spec, then call Sony and ask them. And get out of my thread!

Are you kidding me with this statement? This has got to be a joke.

Anyways, you're telling me you had more time to type up all these posts than to answer yes, or no?

I think we might of possibly had a misunderstanding though. I had thought you knew the answer to my question, but you were simply referring me back. However, I 'm not sure you knew the answer, so you referred me back to get the answer, which is obviously not a deal since you did not know it. You did never state if you knew the answer or not.

I'm just stating that if you actually KNOW the answer, why not give it?

I think what you fail to realize is that you would have done a lot less typing if you would have just answered yes or no to the initial question. But instead you went on this huge tirade for whatever reason and ended up expending a lot more energy and ultimately wasting more time by arguing. Honestly, if you don't want to answer questions regarding your research you should refrain from creating threads altogether.

Once again, I don't know if the answer is YES or NO. And I am not obligated to answer his question precisely the way that he wants it. He can either accept the answer, or find the answer for himself. But I am not going to let anybody insulting me by saying like "just answer yes or no" after I did him a favor. That's very disrespectful!

Moderator: Please close this thread! This thread has gone way of course by people who keep arguing with me with the issues that has nothing to do with what the thread is originally intended.
