I just receive my FZ CT190 yesterday. So far everything is running smooth and fast. The HI-Color screen is amazing !! I will try to play around the laptop for the next week and hopefully I will write a review compare the HP 6000 I replaced. Here are some pictures I took while I received the Laptop. The package of this laptop is not impressive at all and I wasn't very happy when I first open the box.

Nice pics and I can't wait for the review. Did you order the blu-ray movies, or is sony giving them with the FZ190 CTO with blu-ray?
-
lol like sony would give away blu ray movies for free. or anything for that matter
-
The movies are included with the laptop. which I was surprise when I saw it.
-
now that i look, those movies arent worth buying in the first place. maybe thats why they are giving them away, because they suck lol

Ah, now we know what they mean by Comedy Movie Pack. I think I can live happily with the faster harddrive and without the set of DVDs, but at least you got something to enjoy the nice screen.
-
Is there a panel at the bottom of the notebook to access the hard drive?
"Made in the USA" - I thought they were just shipped from San Diego, I did not know that they were also made there.
That's pretty good of sony to give you some free blu-ray movies and a rewritable blu-ray disc. -
Yes. you can access to the hard drive and the rams from the bottom. I am still thinking if I should replace a new drive with 7200rpm. currently, I am very happy with the performance with the 5400 160gb drive. -
Excellent, I have my Seagate monentus 7200.2 drive in hand and waiting for my FZ190CTO to be delivered. I was worried that I would have required to take apart the entire unit to get access to the hard drive. I am still contemplating whether or not to upgrade to 4 gb of ram.
Did you run any benchmarks on your notebook? I am wondering how the performance of the system is (non oced). Did you run into any problems so far (noise, heat, buttons, window update, blu-ray player, etc)? Any idea of real world battery life (wireless/bt on with an without battery savings mode)? -

oh, these movies even came with the 160GB drive? Who knew?
For upgrading RAM, if I heard correctly the notebook cannot really access much more than 3GB anyway. Wouldn't it be more economical to take the computer with 1 x1GB and add a 2GB stick? -
exactly what i did. got it with 1 added another stick. i opted for no blue-ray so no disc, but the reason i chose no blue-ray was for av mode which doesn't even work for me... at least i still haven't figured out how...

mercury is from the ccfl lcd backlight
-
Looks great man. I was going to buy that before I realized it was out of my price range. How much did you pay for your config? Mine came out to around $1850 including warranty and tax.
-
What are the dimensions, how much does it weigh? Specs?
-
very nice!
-
Wow, u have the white one, nice!
-
Fantastic pictures!
It really is a sight to behold.
Congrats!
Pls run a few benchmarks and compile all these into a review.
It's a shame we don't have a review in notebookreview for it yet. -
hello everyone
i was just wondering if anyone has actually opted for the FZ with the black keyboard? (it seems that the majority of you are getting the white one), its not fair as the white is not an option if you live in the UK

yep, my FZ with black keyboard should be here by Wednesday. I personally think it looks better that way.

looks nice, dont forget to burn your recovery discs... do that first!
and its nice to get 3 bluerays with ur lap. No matter if they are ones you like or not at least you get to see and compare the quality. And Sony does give things away periodically. When i bought my SOny DVD home recorder it came with 20 DVD-Rs + rerecordables -
The movies and blank BluRay rewritable disc were included with the machine and they are not part of any movie package. I got the exact same set of discs with my FZ190 and 160GB drive.
-
you'd need a 64bit os to fully take advantage of anything more than 3.2gb of ram.
New FZ-190 open box pictures and impression !!
