    New Firmware Upgrade for UJ-220 Blu-ray drive

    Good news! Sony has just released a firmware upgrade for UJ-220 Blu-ray drive. It seems to fix the problem with some BD movies not being recognized by my drive. A list of compatible models can be found here. You can download the firmware from Sony ESupport Site by typing the model number.

    UPDATE: judging from install_ini file, it should work with ALL Sony Models, even the European or Asian models as long as your drive is UJ-220.

    I put in UJ-220, UJ220, UJ-220S, UJ220S and none seem to work.. What am I missing?

    The update should be only for Sony Vaios though.

    So it can't be used with an HP Pavilion HDX Dragon notebook then I guess. I was saying that the firmware wasn't coming up at all.. as in I can't seem to find it at the link you posted anywhere.

    firmware update is not necessary- get a software update, and dont use OEM players
