Well the VAIO logo leads me to believe it is not an MP3 player... anyway, Sony has been pushing the "Walkman" brand and I think all their MP3 players sport that logo.

If it's not a laptop, it could be a PDA... I think some of the Sony CLIEs were called VAIO in Japan, I'm not sure.

In any case, I'm sure it's an ultra small PC.

In the third image from the top, you can barely make out the Bluetooth logo. It's one of the fuzzy while lines.

The second image looks like a series of buttons... could be like the media buttons on the T series... or maybe PDA buttons ?

    Dunno.

I have always thought the Vaio Pocket had so much potential, it was out before Apple I think - color screen.

Shame they didn't act on it faster! Please please let it be a new mp3 player!

However, usually new items crop up in Japan first before they are released anywhere in the world...but could this be a new strategy to launch things over at the statesides first?

Could be a UMPC, on the same lines as the Samsung Q1 which was released recently...

You know they can make it light. Look athe 11in screen sony.. If they want it to last, stick on two ext batteries to it (12hrs of real world use. hehe). It'll still be under 4lbs. I'm sure they could do it.

This story was picked up by Engadget a day after it was posted on Notebookreview.

One guy might be on the money. He says it's going to be two new products.

VAIO AR: 17" 1920x1200 screen, Core Duo, Blu-ray, HDMI, RAID.

VAIO UX: 7" touch screen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Core Solo, WAN, biometric sensor, dual cameras, "UMPC" with Windows XP Pro (not Tablet Edition).

    Still, these are unconfirmed rumors....

Also this photo was posted which might be the new AR series:

I think that Engadget story may be right on with the AR as the web site now says "How did they make it so glossy?"

I'm interested in seeing this slide-out keyboard.

I know that it won't be for me (too small and could never have a dedicated gfx card) but it sounds interesting to look at.

So when do you think Sony is going to unveil this?

The latest photos are more revealing yet still confusing.

The last photo looks like a QWERTY keyboard...

must be different models. Now it looks like theres a flash and a camera and something with buttons.
Either they are showing different items all at once, or its gonna look weird. :)
Another thing is maybe they bringing back a pda model.
