Interesting. I guess it's good for those who don't want to tinker with third-party software and install modded drivers.

Hi Tony! May I ask how do I find out which driver version I have? I'm a bit confused with the CCC panel as to which is which. Thanks!

    I don't have the Diagnostic X app...

    in CCC
    click on information center
and then click on graphics software
and then the catalyst version is the driver version

every PC has the directx app, type dxdiag into the start menu search bar

    Thanks
can you check it in the CCC and see what version of catalyst it is?

For SR290, driver site shows 8.513.1.0 dated 10/14/2008, so...if you got your laptop after this day it can be assumed you have the driver?

I go by the display driver properties, since AMD probably doesn't update every individual driver and sends it out as a 'driver package' as indicated in CCC.

Thanks Tony. But like you, I'm also confused about whom to "believe" in: the CCC or DiagDX...

Anyway, will update my driver through the ftp provided by Hamud.

    Also, thanks to hamud!

I don't like this driver for the FW. I uninstalled the modded desktop ones because for some reason it crashes GRID from time to time. I would get a Windows error saying the ATI driver stopped responding and that it recovered successfully.

However, this updated driver reduces the WEI by 0.1 to 4.6 for some unknown reason. It's not a big deal but I don't want to have games running choppier than usual. Also, 16:9 resolutions are not available in games with the laptop drivers.
