help ! i just recieved my sz61VN from sony today, and once vista loads i just get a error messege telling me to restart.

    message:
    "install windows

the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error, windows installation cannot proceed to install windows click "ok" to restart the computer and then restart the installation "

but when i click ok it just loops

i think this is because i closed the lid of the laptop when it first loaded vista....

why would you close the lid? theres still a few things you'd need to input when turning on a computer for the first time.

Call/chat with Sony Support. It is a new notebook and use the help while the warranty is still active.

thanks alot PhilFlow the f10 thing worked like a charm :p

another problem though, after i went into vista i started uninstalling some of the useless programs, and i think i deleted something important, now when i press the fn and the brightness keys nothing happens ? any ideas or should i just restore all the orginal apps?

yeah try reinstalling the vaio utilities from sony support. they propably say what utils are for brightness keys.

    if you can't restore it it's f10 again ;)

You could also consider doing a clean install. You'll get the cleanest and fastest system.

Vaio Event Service is what you want to reinstall to gain back function in your FN keys (I think).
